THE DIRECT ANSWER

Assign a stable external order reference and define which system may revise each field after acceptance. Treat a repeated message as a possible retry before creating another order. The integration scope should also identify who handles rejected product codes, changed customer delivery addresses and acknowledgements that fail to reach the buyer.

Understand the decision

A customer portal resends an order after its confirmation page times out. The warehouse may already be preparing the first copy. A useful integration demonstration follows that uncertainty through order creation, acknowledgement and later amendment, rather than proving only that a normal message arrives in Odoo.

Work through the requirements

  1. Define the customer reference and revision rule
  2. Separate new orders from message retries
  3. Assign an owner to rejected messages

Watch for this failure

An interface success response does not prove the customer received an acknowledgement or the warehouse saw the latest revision. Reconcile business records and communication status, particularly when retries can occur after a timeout.

Continue the evaluation

This example defines what to verify, rather than promising a particular Odoo feature. Keep a record of the demonstrated result, configuration, unresolved gaps and person who accepts it.
